The New York Saint Patrick’s Day parade is the biggest Saint Patrick’s Day parade in the world and it is also the oldest civilian parade in the world. Every year, more than 150,000 marchers take part in it, including firefighters, army and police groups, county organizations, emigrant societies, bands, social and cultural clubs, and 2 million visitors line the streets. The parade marches up the 1.5 mile route along 5th Avenue in Manhattan, is a five hour procession, and is always led by the US 69th Infantry Regiment.
